Days 27 & 28: Halfway There!

4 weeks down and four to go! Now that we’ve reached the halfway point, we’re in what the coaches call the “3rd quarter.” The 3rd quarter is often considered the most difficult. Midway is a major milestone, but then the third quarter is too far from the finish line to really ramp up without burning out too early. The best approach (as I understand it) is to focus on maintenance. I’m taking it one day at a time right now.

For anyone who understands women’s hormones (which I know culturally seems to be a small group), I am now in the luteal phase of my cycle and I have estrogen dominance and a luteal phase defect. My body struggles to produce progesterone and I’m still waiting to see a doctor about it (scheduled, but it was a very lengthy waitlist). Until addressed, I will be in miserable during the week before my period. Low progesterone makes me irritable, tired, wildly hungry from junk food, and unable to sleep. Entering the third quarter at the same time as this week in my system was unfortunate timing.

I’m using a lot of mental power to get through this week, but like the passage of time, change is inevitable so I will let the tough parts pass on their own knowing that easier days will follow.
