Day 26: Listening to My Body

Rounding out the week with another leg day! After an interrupted night of sleep, I wasn’t at “peak” performance today. Yesterday, a tornado warning had my family huddled in the bathroom for half an hour. My son was a little spooked by thunder, lightning, and wind, which led to difficulty sleeping. Then I had an early morning meeting and felt a little groggy when I got up and at it today.

I had a weird sensation in the front of my quad during the loaded lunges. I was familiar with the fatigue and burning feelings when working, but this felt like a tearing or scratching in the muscle. It was a painful discomfort that made me opt for a lighter weight choice—working against the desire to push myself and load up. I am hoping two rest days will sort it out, and I will be ready for next Friday’s leg day!
